This is a great article on our lost ways. Its also a stark reminder about how self reliant people were not too long ago. How we have moved so far away in the name of convenience is astounding. The great thing about this article is that it comes in list form and you can turn it into a sheet of goals if you were so inclined. When I look at it I see a curriculum.
The author makes her argument about the importance of learning these pioneer skills and then begins the list. She follows each entry up with a little blurb about why they are important. I understand why we caved to convenience. When you look over this list you see things that are so intimidating. Skills like quilting, stonework and blacksmithing would take a while to learn right? Now think about how much time you spend on electronics.
